Kia ora,
My role as a Death Walker or End of Life Doula, is to support, encourage, guide and empower Rahiri and their whanau, as they come to terms with entering the last phase of their life. This aligns with the work I undertake as a funeral celebrant, creating meaningful ceremonies and rituals to celebrate the life of a loved one. I consider myself to be spiritual in my approach, and open to the customs or rituals the Rahihi bring, following the lead of the whanau with reciprocity and respect.
Â
My colleague and I co-founded the Farewell Trust here in the Marlborough Sounds, providing end of life care to anyone who wished to remain at home to die. We began this journey in 2016 and then in 2024 we established Poroporoaki, ‘Te Whare Rangimarie – The House of Peace’, a cottage where Rahiri could come for Assisted Dying.
Â
Please feel free to contact me to see how I can help with the transition to the next phase of your life’s journey.
