While a non-medical roll, I will facilitate and advocate for your decisions and health care planning, (including when you can no longer advocate for yourself), documenting your wishes for your final weeks (including after-death care and funeral wishes). I honour and respect death as something uniquely personal and aspire to honour your values and choices. I can connect whānau (family and friends) with resources, support services, counsellors, and sourcing further assistance where necessary from other trained professionals in the end of life care network. Because I am a registered Primary School Teacher I am also happy to work with children.
I am a professionally trained End-of-Life Doula, (through Peaceful Presence Project). I provide a range of services including Advance Care Planning; Will facilitation (with client and executor); RUGS - (regrets, unfinished business, guilt and shame); honouring you as a spiritual being - (rituals and ceremonies); bucket lists; legacy and life review; goodbye letters; vigils; directives and Living Wills; and day-to-day needs, while adhering to the doula code of ethics.
Kata Kairon (κατὰ καιρὸν) is an ancient Greek term that, when translated, means, ‘at this appointed time’ or ‘at the right time’. I chose Kata Kairon as my business name to acknowledge that throughout our lives we all experience many and varied appointed times. These appointed times often include ceremonies, rituals and journeys during which I will care for you, your physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs, your chosen whānau (family and friends), as you navigate through your kata kairon.
You are very welcome to contact me for an initial no-obligation conversation to explore which services may be helpful for you, or you could visit my website for further information.
